Tom Aussem's dynamic background, including a career as a professional skydiver and a plethora of other experiences, reflects his Type A personality and his unwavering dedication to sharing knowledge. With a lifelong love for the history of Starved Rock Country, Tom launched Awesome Ottawa Tours in 2018, starting with the popular Ottawa Obscura Bike Tour and expanding annually to offer 9 unique tours today.

From leisurely bike rides and scenic hikes to informative walking tours and immersive driving expeditions, Awesome Ottawa Tours caters to all preferences and fitness levels. Whether exploring the majestic beauty of Starved Rock State Park, Matthiessen State Park, or Buffalo Rock State Park, or delving into the rich heritage of historic Ottawa, Illinois, each tour is designed to inform, entertain, and, above all, ensure a memorable experience for visitors.
