Temperance be damned on this adventure!

Wine Through Time with Awesome Ottawa Tours as we discuss Starved Rock Country’s sordid past of gambling, prostitution and liquor. In 1919 Ottawa had over 40 saloons. None of them closed with the start of prohibition. What could possibly be going on there? The roaring 20’s were more like the staggering 20’s in Starved Rock Country. On the tour we will visit four local “watering holes,” enjoy their vino (or cocktail of your choice), and “chew the fat”. As we walk from saloon to saloon you will see the houses of ill repute, hiding places for contraband, and other notorious sites from the dark years of prohibition. This is a waslking tour of 1.5 miles over 2.5-3 hours. Tour price does not include libations. .
